Cadmium is a chemical element with the symbol Cd and atomic number 48. This soft, silvery-white metal is chemically similar to the two other stable metals in group 12, zinc and mercury.
Cadmium is rare element, symbol Cd. It is silvery white. Melting point 321 ℃. The ratio of material to cadmium in the crust ranges from 1000000:0.1 to 1000000:0.5. It is extracted from zinc ore or sulfur cadmium ore as a by-product and is mostly used to protect other metals from corrosion and rust, such as electroplated steel, iron products, copper, brass and other alloys.
