Neodymium is a chemical element with the symbol Nd and atomic number 60. Neodymium belongs to the lanthanide series and is a rare-earth element. It is a hard, slightly malleable silvery metal that quickly tarnishes in air and moisture
Neodymium is used with iron and boron to create powerful permanent magnets, also called NIB magnets. NIB magnets are used in computers, cell phones, medical equipment, toys, motors, wind turbines and audio systems. Neodymium is used as a crystal (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) in lasers
Neodymium Sputtering Target
Symbol: Nd
Electron configuration: [Xe] 4f⁴6s²
Atomic number: 60
Atomic mass: 144.242 u
Melting point: 1,861°F (1,016°C)
Storage and transportation conditions:Store in dry place, avoid damp, avoid high temperature
Currently our standard round target sizes range from 1" to 20" in diameter, and the rectangular targets are available in lengths up to and over 2000mm in single or multiple piece construction depending on the metal.
The suggestion for using the targets protected in kerosene ( aerospace -grade kerosene ).
1.Prepare 500ml of acetone liquid, open the package of the target, take the target out of the poly bag with tweezers ,and put the target into the acetone liquid for 10 seconds ,repeated the soaking operation for 3 times .
2.Then do the flash drying and put the target into the magnetron sputtering system.
3.Do the pre-sputtering to remove the oxide on the surface.we suggest the 20 mins of pre-sputtering time .
4.Maideli suggestion:do not take the target out of the sputtering chamber until the sputtering processing is finally done . Better to put the target into a vacuum protection in case of oxidation . (If can't be protected in vacuum protection ,put it back into kerosene .
